Beef Share FAQ

What is a beef share deposit?

A deposit is required to reserve your share of the cow. This helps us plan our season and covers the initial costs of raising and processing. The deposit is deducted from your final total.

How much freezer space do I need?

As a rule of thumb, you'll need 1 cubic foot of freezer space for every 35-40 pounds of packaged meat. A quarter cow usually fits in a small chest freezer, while a whole cow needs a large upright or chest unit.

How is the meat divided among the shares?

Each share receives a proportional mix of steaks, roasts, brisket, ribs, and ground beef. While no two cows are identical, we ensure every customer gets a fair and premium variety of cuts from their reserved portion.

How long does the entire process take?

From reservation to pickup, it typically takes 4–6 weeks depending on the cow's maturity and the butcher's schedule. Beef is dry-aged for maximum flavor before being vacuum-sealed and frozen for you.

Can I request custom butcher cuts?

For half and whole cow shares, we can often accommodate specific cutting instructions. For quarter shares, we use a standard 'Farmer's Choice' cut list to ensure all parts of the cow are efficiently used.
